कडू वृंदावन साखरें घोळीले I
तरी काय गेले कडूपण II
तैसा तो अधम करी तीर्थाटण I
नोहे त्याचे मन निर्मळत्व II
बचनाग रवा दुग्धी शिजविला I
तरी काय गेला त्याचा गुण II
नामा म्हणे संतसज्जनीसंगती I
ऐशासही गती काळांतरी II

It says ,
" This composition reflects Saint Namdev's acumen in judging nuances of human psyche.
It is indeed very difficult to change the mindset of an evil.minded person in the short run. Elucidating this thought Saint Namdev says ,
" वृंदावन " means " कारले " the Bitter Gourd is dIstinctly bitter. It's bitterness prevails regardless of it been sugar coated. A profoundly immoral and wicked person displays similar traits. His psyche remains unstirred regardless of his visiting pilgrimages.
" बचनाग " is a intensely poisonous root. It's fatal effect cannot be ruled out even if it is cooked in milk.
Only if the devilish person happens to come in contact of an Enlightened Being  then there is a small possibility to have a marked improvement in his thinking pattern , this however seems to be remote and may take ages.
Saint Namdev has illuminated this thought by giving analogies of happenings in our everyday life. "
