परा पश्यंति मध्यमा वैखरी I
तें गाय दुभे वैश्णवा घरी II
तें एके विट्ठलें पंढरी राखिली I
दुभावया दिधली पुंडलिका II
चारही वेद मुखी धरुनिया राहे I
विट्ठलाचे द्वारि नामा गाये II

It says ,
" The distinct levels of the manifestation of sound are known as Para , Pashyanti , Madhyama and Vaikhari.
' Para ' finds manifestation only in Soul .
' Pashyanti ' has manifestation in the mind.
' Madhyama ' has manifestation in the Perceptions and
' Vaikhari ' finds manifestation in the articulate expression.
In other words ,
Vaikhari is speech , Madhyama is mental translation of form into Name ,
Pashyanti is thought form and
Para is Pure Shakti.
Saint Namdev says ,
These four conceptions of sound are nothing but four milk giving cows in the possession of Devotee of Vitthal , the Lord Supreme. The unceasing Name Worship of Supreme Lord through these four sounds is similar to the milk proffered by  these four cows. The four cows impersonating four manifestations of sound pronounce the thoughts of four Vedic Scriptures.
 Blessed by Supreme Lord Vitthal , Saint Namdev is singing praise for the glory of Supreme Lord in His temple ."
